Before your appointment, you’ll need to remove any consumables from the property such as food, drink and medicine, unless they’re securely sealed in an airtight container. Any pets or houseplants should also be removed from the property until treatment is complete and it’s safe to return. Doors, windows and appliances should all be closed and switched off as instructed by the pest control specialist on the day.
Fumigation treatment time depends on the size of your property and the extent of the infestation, but it typically takes between 24 and 72 hours.
You’ll need to leave the property whilst the fumigation process takes place to ensure you don’t inhale any harmful fumes. A pest control specialist will then confirm when it’s safe to return. In most cases, this means arranging alternate accommodation for at least one night.
