What is NICEIC?

NICEIC is the leading independent voluntary electrical regulatory body that assesses the competence of UK electricians. It was set up in the 1950’s and maintains a register of around 20,000 Approved Contractors and Domestic Installers.

Electrical Dangers and Hazards

Electrics that have not installed, inspected or maintained correctly pose incredible danger. Thousands of electrical fires and hundreds of electrical shocks and injuries happen each year as a result of electrical work being carried out by those that are inexperienced, unknowledgeable and unqualified. The consequences can even be fatal with around 10 deaths a year caused by unsafe electrics in the home.

The Laws of Electrical Safety

Part P of the Building Regulations is an electrical safety law that the government introduced on the 1st January 2005 to improve electrical safety in the home. The law applies in England and Wales and requires an electrician that is registered with a government scheme, such as NICEIC, to carry out most types of electrical work.
