They have been commissioned to carry out a complete refurbishment of a villa in one of Spain's most sought-after location, Marbella on the Costa del Sol. Not for the first time have they undertaken this kind of work for clients with properties in Spain and the south of France.
A prominent Chelsea businessman has asked Pimlico Plumbers to carry out a radical makeover of his villa to include an English kitchen, five classical bathrooms, complete electrical rewiring, under floor heating, air conditioning and state-of-the-art audio-visual entertainment centre.
The villa stands in unique settings commanding a splendid view of the sea and surrounding mountains, has its own roman-ends style swimming pool and a golf course is only a chip-shot away.
"I wanted major improvements to the property that would give me added space and comfort, top quality living quarters with that feel-good factor" said the owner.
"Although the villa has many good features and contains gadgets so modern the ink on their patent has yet to dry, I wanted to add more style, introduce new facilities and décor that I can call my own and with Pimlico Plumbers on board to provide the expertise and the required professionalism needed to carry out such a project, I am absolutely confident in their ability to complete the refurbishment on time and on budget" he continued. To ensure the smooth running of the project Pimlico have appointed Paul McCarthy, an experienced Project Manager, who now lives in Spain. "This is a very prestigious project for us" said Paul "The refurbishment will involve rerunning of all the pipe work for a pressurised plumbing system, new kitchen facilities, new laundry and en-suite bathrooms. All bathroom areas to be tiled in marble; all joinery work including doors and wardrobes have been specially built in our London workshop and transported to Spain".
Pimlico have mustered a workforce of fourteen handpicked operatives to carry out the work which started in April and is due for completion in October. And to help keep progress on track, the crew of fitters and engineers have at their disposal fully equipped Pimlico vans in their distinctive blue and white company livery, sent out direct from England kitted out with specialist equipment to ensure that work facilities on site are equivalent to those available back home.
The vans are now a familiar sight up and down the Costa del Sol. Their plumbing-related number plates attract the attention of local residents and have become a talking point for people sitting at their favourite bars in Puerto Banus, leisurely sipping a glass of wine while watching the boats come in.
To help them cope with working in hot weather Pimlico have also supplied their team with special cool uniforms and smart shorts, also in the company colours.
