I've been spending a fair amount of time lately looking at ways to improve our website, and I've come to the conclusion that what we need is a full time web-wiz-kid to join our existing PR team to really up our game. In the last few years I've really realised just how important communications generally and the internet specifically can be to any business. And compared to where we were just three years ago we have really improved, but that doesn't mean there's a lot more that, with the right person on board, we can achieve with our web-strategy.
So if you want to be part of the team here and have the enthusiasm, ideas and technical nous to take this site to the next level then we want to talk to you now.
But if you ask me, it's what he did after all that that he should be ducking eggs for this week, even if I don't think any eggs should be wasted on him. By his own admission he left us in the lurch, walking away from the job we elected him to do, leaving Gordon Brown, a man he [privately] thought would make a disastrous PM, to run the country [into the ground].
Thanks Tony!
Long Lane Garden Centre's Charity Golf Day went really well and everyone had a great time. The fundraising couldn't have gone better and so far they have managed to raise over £2,000 from the tournament, at least £1,000 from the charity auction alone and they received a £5,100 donation from our Solicitors Mishcon de Reya. All in all that's in excess of £8,000 and they're still counting so they should have a new mini bus very soon.
Pimlico bid for and won a Warrington Wolves signed football shirt, a painting, a tour of Liverpool Football Club for four and a famous Snotty the Pot Man. And we donated all but one of these auction prizes back to Long Lane (we couldn't get rid of Snotty the Pot Man!) for the lads to enjoy themselves.
It was a lovely 9 hole golf course and four lads from Long Lane including Health and Safety, Mike, Anthony and Jamie joined in with our golfing team and learned some new skills. They seemed to really enjoy it so maybe they'll be able to enter next year's tournament.
Long Lane is a great charity and they deserve all the donations and good will that they get. I hope it continues for a long time to come.
I listened to Ed Balls on LBC Radio this morning and all I can say is that he was talking a load of balls!
To say that George Osborne is making a mistake by cutting down the deficit to early is total rubbish. And to say that rather than trying to slash the deficit by cutting spending that £250m should be spent on creating 200,000 jobs and placements for people out of work is fair enough, but not when Labour couldn't manage to do this throughout their whole 13 years in power.
In my view when you're in debt the first thing you do is pay that amount back and not carry on spending money that you just don't have!
I'm on my way up to Long Lane Garden Centre's Charity Golf Day along with the Pimlico golf teams.
Long Lane has put a lot of effort into making this day a success and I'm sure a huge amount of money will be raised for the centre and with the £5,100 donated by our solicitors Mishcon de Reya they should be able to buy the best mini bus in Warrington.
Our guys are all set to put their golfing skills to the test out on the course at Poulton Park. And I'm ready to cook up a storm on the BBQ and my after event speech is all prepared.
I'm really looking forward to seeing all at the garden centre in a couple of hours.
