Plumbing Courses

In order to be certified as a professional plumber, there are a number of plumbing courses that someone will need to take. In order for someone to be fully qualified in plumbing in the UK, it is necessary to have the full NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services. NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification. The NVQ includes both theoretical and practical aspects of plumbing.

There are a number of methods by which someone may get the NVQ. For someone who is not already engaged in the plumbing industry, it will be necessary to have these qualifications:  City & Guilds Technical Certificates Level 2 Basic plumbing Studies as well as Level 3 plumbing studies. City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services - plumbing (Domestic).

Such technical certificates are not enough to fully certify you as a plumber without the full NVQ qualification. However, the lessons and skills they provide are important stepping stones in getting into the plumbing industry. These technical certificates include sanitation systems, hot and cold water systems, central heating pipe work, and safety.
Different colleges set their own requirements in course entry, and the available chances are usually limited. The various entry requirements often incorporate aptitude tests.
When you enrol for the plumbing courses, it is recommended that you secure an attachment with a plumbing company as soon as possible in order to set you on the path to getting the full NVQ. You may either seek a placement personally or arrangement may be done via your college.
There are some organisations that provide intensive plumbing courses over a short period of time. These courses may be either on-location or home-based. However, before you register for any such courses, you need to determine whether they are accredited and recognised. You can do this by getting in touch with your local City & Guilds office.
For someone who is already working in the plumbing industry, it is necessary to work towards getting both levels 2 and 3 of NVQ Mechanical Engineering Services - Plumbing. You may do this part-time.
There are also plumbing courses that help someone to specialise in a particular branch of the plumbing industry.
Basically, there are three ways of taking plumbing courses. The first option involves attending plumbing colleges; the second one is through distance learning method, while the last option is taking an intensive course. You should, however, carry enough research before you enrol for any plumbing course since many of them will not actually qualify you for the National Vocational Qualification. Due to good prospects in the plumbing industry, many people have come up with plumbing courses that are not accredited since the demand is high.
Although it may be taken faster, attaining the NVQ Level 3 usually takes around three years. This third level has additional assessments in water regulations, un-vented hot water systems, and ACS gas safety.

Plumbing is certainly a lucrative industry. However, if you want to make it as a plumber; you have to take the right plumbing courses.
